Naples Fertilizer & Garden Centers was originally founded in 1971 as Naples Sod by Bill Turner.

In 1982 the company was purchased by William Morris and the name changed to Naples Fertilizer & Supply Company. In 1991 Bill’s son-in-law Santo Tomaini took over the  operations of the company keeping the company family owned and operated. Through the years the company has grown into a service leader in Southwest Florida with one of the best reputations. Through these prosperous past 27 years under present ownership, Naples Fertilizer has maintained that “small town” community feel with one on one relationships between our employees and customers while serving Collier and Lee counties from Marco Island to South Fort Myers

1971: Company founded as Naples Sod by John Turner.

 1982: Company purchased by William & Patricia Morris and name changed to Naples Fertilizer & Supply Company.

 1982: Now famous “Smiling DC3 Airplane Logo” designed and introduced to the company.

 1983: John Brossard our present General Manager, is hired to help Bill with the operation – He is made General Manager 18 months later at age 19.

 1984: Now famous “blue bag” branding added to the company for Southwest Florida custom blended fertilizer and mulch products.

1985: Company is moved from its original location on Shirley Street into the more visible present location of Goodlette Rd. @ Solana Rd. (“The Big Blue Building with the Airplane on the side”).

 1988: Forklift tandem “Free Delivery” system put in place allowing for greater expansion utilizing larger palletized deliveries.

 1988-2004: “The Plant Doctor” radio show along with “Gardening in Paradise” television show hosted and produced by Naples Fertilizer air on weekly basis.

 1990: 1,000,000th Free Delivery completed.
 1991: Company hires Santo Tomaini (Bill’s son-in-law) to take over operations and run the company. He is presently Chief Operating Officer and Partner in the business.

  1992: Name changed to Naples Fertilizer & Garden Center from Naples Fertilizer and Supply.

  1994: Activant/Triad Eagle operating computer system added to automate the company’s operation including point-of-sale, inventory, accounts receivables & accounts payable.

  1996: 2,000,000th Free Delivery completed.

  1998: Company structure changed from “sole proprietorship” to “family limited partnership”.

  1999: Original Activant/Triad Eagle operating computer system upgraded and replaced with new Multi-Store expansion capabilities, Business Advisor, Internet “e-store” window.

  2000: Second Forklift tandem added to handle expansion of business into Lee County.

  2001: Naples Fertilizer’s Lee County expansion complete with complete service to all of Lee County. Company name changed to Naples Fertilizer & Garden Centers.

  2002: 3,000,000th Free Delivery completed.

  2002 & 2003: Company voted “Bonita’s Best” in Fort Myer’s News Press Poll.

  2004: Naples Fertilizer expands again introducing its products and services over the internet via e-store software on “Naples-Fertilizer.com” & “eLawnGarden.com”

  2004: A new store concept is put into action with Naples Fertilizer’s “Store on Wheels”. We put a bill boarded truck loaded with inventory and a salesman on the road going to various accounts selling inventory directly or creating orders for next day delivery.

  2005: Company is key player with Hurricane Wilma clean-up. Truck fleet is used throughout the county to aid with landscape removal. Company sales accelerate as the areas landscapes are restored.

  2006: Naples Fertilizer initiates an environmentally safe initiative ahead of city/county regulations reducing nitrogen and phosphorous in their summer blends as the famous 6-0-15 & 0-0-15 Ultra blends are introduced.

  2007: Naples Fertilizer is voted “Bonita’s Best” delivery company in Fort Myer’s News Press Poll.

  2008: Company records its 4,000,000th Free Delivery

  2008: Santo Tomaini is invited to sit on FNGLA’s special committee regarding fertilizer regulations in SW Florida

  2009: Company continues to practice water conservation initiatives during 3 year drought promoting & selling only many products aimed at conserving our one precious resource…Water
